Foods highest in purine – AVOID
- Yeast extracts (e.g. Marmalite)
- Animal internal organs such as liver, kidney, heart, brains
- Small fish, e.g. sprat, ikan bilis, sardine, herring
- Trout, tuna, canned fish
- Fish roe
- Dried mushrooms
- Broths, meat stocks e.g. chicken essence, Bak Kut Teh, gravies, stock cubes
- Soy bean and related products e.g. beancurd, bean paste, soya bean milk, tempeh

I'm confused! I thought tofu (beancurd) was OK, see for example: http://www.soya.be/soy-gout.php
Hi there Scarlett,
I am glad you shared with me the link. I believe if you read your link properly, no where was it indicated that beancurd is OK. All it says is that, beancurd and by relation, vegetable-based protein food which has high purine contents, do not contribute to the development of uric acid development, compared to meat-based diet.
In our present world context, we have a rich source of food to take out nutrition from. While I will not claim to be an expert on nutrition, as a gout sufferer myself, I can really perceive the effect of consuming soy-based product, compared to a period when I stay away from them. Perhaps, it is mind over matter, perhaps it is not. Studies can be funded, to influence various objectives, specifically vegetarian organisations keen on promoting vegetarian lifestyle, for example. I am not accusing anyone of having such motives, just that, studies remain studies until proven conclusively by the medical community themselves.
I will contact Hyogo College of Medicine directly to find out if there are any follow-ups to this study, so that we can all benefit from the research. A Google search with the following text "<a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=A+Japanese+study+b...target="_blank">http://www.google.com/search?q=A+Japanese+study+b...onlyresulted in 2 entries, and was not corroborated by anyone else, as such, I do not put much emphasis on that study, pending response from the school.
I thank you again for your feedback as we strive to be healthier. A key component of my website is moderation in everything I do and consume. Yes I love soy bean products and would really want to enjoy eating my next cup of tofu!
cheers,
Sham

Gout surely is a horrible issue, my aunt is suffering from the issue for several months now. It puts a lot of stress on me, finding a much loved member of the family and friend experience intense joint pain frequently. Using a good food regimen for prevention and making use of the most effective treatment plans is something I consider crucial. I would highly recommend everybody who at present notices initial signs of gout arthritis to by any means be alarmed. You should consult with a health care professional as soon as possible and adjust your food intake to prevent the outbreak of the condition. It is definitely no fun, really. Search for working options for treatment and steer clear of high purine food, alcoholic beverages and so forth as a prophylactic measure!
Wow very fascinating sharing. Credit on behalf of this.
